CUVVSP11B - Apply Techniques to Produce Digital Images

(please note, images have been resized for blog)

Brush with fame (full image)

Naturally i had to put myself in with the greatest band of all time. The size threw me a bit, the picture is wider than the size we were given for the project. This one forced me to try different things in Photoshop I had never done before.

Underwater

This one is rather self explanitory...underwater playground for real and made up sea creatures- modern and prehistoric.

Me, Myself, I

Not my first go at this... had to redo it because of my wee little 4 megapixel camera's photos were not big enough. This one was fun though.

When it rains, it pours!
In case its not obvious, this poor bloke is goin through a whole lot of dramas. Hes that broke he has to sell the house and ute...providing his missus doesnt take it as she's leaving him. His old faithful pooch died and to top it off...he's run out of beer. No wonder he's crying.

Brush with fame (proper scale)

So this is this one the same scale as the other images...i had to show them both because thiso ne the sides got chopped off...

Photoshop exercises

This one we had to remove the silos.. i used the clone stamp and the patch tool to tidy it up at the end.

this one we had to make the grass go all across the picture and no road. done using patch tool.

in this exercise we had to remove the cracks and creases in the photo... i used the clone stamp tool and the patch tool. there are a couple of spots that didnt turn out as good as id hoped but overall it turned out ok.

splatter

This is what i got done in class for the poster for 'splatter art exhibition', using paint blobs we painted in an earlier class (using paper as a brush). we were only allowed to have the 3 blobs and text on the poster.

Here is another exercise we done using one blob and one word used several times.

BSBDES302A-Composites

Composites

1. Heaven

The photograph of the sky and cloud is one i took. I done this composite after i finished the hell composite, so its based on the same idea only opposite- typical heaven objects, bright and light, images of people who are inspirational in good ways.

2. Hell

The photo of the clouds is one i took. The idea behind this composite is to portray what hell might look like- dark and fiery. The images i have incorporated are of people who are hated by MOST people.

3.Harmony

The photo i used that i took was the one of myself. this composite is based on the idea that some music is harmonious to a person and when they listen to it, they feel calm. the musicians pictured are ones that make me calm, also the colours and shapes do too.

4. Dissonance

The photo i used that i took was the one of myself. This composite has the same principles as the harmony composite only reversed. In this one there are musicians pictured that when i hear their music some kind of clash happens in my head or ears and i feel sharp annoyance and anger rather than calm. this is also portrayed in the colours and shapes.

5. Chaos

The photo of my own i have included in this composite is the one of the dog. Whenever i thought of the word chaos i thought of my computer desk at home, which is always messy and houses an assortment of random objects. this is how i chose to do this composite. In the 'chaos room', none of the colours match, there are random objects thrown in, and it is messy. This composite took the longest as it had the most elements in it, but also the easiest because i didnt have to think too hard about what elements to use.

6. Control

The photo of my own which i used is one of the coffee mug on the desk. I went with a similar approach to the chaos composite with this - this room is opposite to the chaos room, it has an obvious (in comparison) sense of control - everything matches, the colours are similar, even the scenery outside the windows is a controlled environment.

The Noise music festival posters

Finally i have something to blog about this... i got a bit behind with this task. I had so many ideas that would have looked great for this task but i had difficulty getting it from my head to the computer.
This is the first one i done - looked good in my head but crap when it got to PS.

This one i like - it uses the logo that i like the most and its simple. I thought of putting more things in it but it would have been overkill.

Magazine article

  1. WHAT WORKS? How the articles and advertisment are all easily seperated, they dont blend into one another and cause confusion. The Roundup advertisment taking up half the page, it is eye catching. Also the positioning of the text on both the articles, they are different from one another - if they were the same it would look boring.
  2. WHAT DOESN'T WORK? I thought the green and white gradient was a good idea at the start but it doesnt work when everything else is finished. The font of the gun laws heading, i should have changed that to something different, or made the text smaller. I should also have moved the articles (the gun heading and the tractor picture) lower down from the border at the top.
  3. WHAT ARE THE DIFFICULTIES YOU ENCOUNTERED WITH SPLITTING THE RECTANGLE? Only that there are so many different ways to do it (vertical, horozontal, one column, two or more columns, etc) and it was hard choosing which way to go because any way would have worked. I didnt particularly like the idea of having the two articles (gun and tractor) in same shape rectangles so I made them different widths but still the same size, and it seems to work

The grass is always greener....

....on the other side of the fence - which is what i have tried to portray in this composite. I have gone for a more simple, literal approach, which relates to everyday people, situations and lifestyles. On the left hand side is the normal side, where there is a nice normal home; the lawn is nice and tidy, not perfect but still green; a nice, old, faithful dog and a nice, old, faithful wife. There is a lot of love on this side of the fence. On the other side of the fence, however, is a new, fancy house; a dog that is a lot nicer looking; and a hot looking chick in hardly any clothes who is posing on a chair, and lush, green, untidy lawn. There are love hearts on both sides - the ones on the normal side with 'love' written on them show that there is love on that side of the fence, and the ones on the other side of the fence indicate a sense of lust and heartbreak - lust because it is thought to be love but it really isnt; and heartbreak because in the end you will be disappointed that the 'Other Side' isnt what it originally seems, which is what the little devil is put in to portray.
I kinda run out of time so some of the pen tool work on some of the elements is a bit dodgy, but other than that im pretty happy with how it turned out.

Space Composite

Here is my space themed composite done in Photoshop. It was hard to try and lay out all the seperate images and make them look ok... it was easy with the backpack putting the longer objects into it. im not too happy with the tractor, it was originally meant to be smaller but when i made it bigger it went kinda funky-like. I do like the background..that was just having a play with the blur setting. But, overall, im happy with the end result.

Fruity!

This is an exercise we done in class using Photo Shop - we had to get the pictures off the internet, then using the pen tool go around the edge of each piece , add drop shadows then put in the background and text. i enjoyed it - although at some points it was a bit frustrating remembering which keystrokes were for what... ill eventually get the hang of it though i guess.
